If you wish to sublet your property, your lease may require you to obtain the landlord’s consent.

Key information

  • Consent is typically granted for a fixed period (e.g. 12 months)
  • A new application is required for each renewal period
  • Fees apply for reviewing and issuing consent
  • Up-to-date occupier information is required for safety and compliance purposes

Important: Subletting without the required consent may place you in breach of your lease.

If the property is used in breach of the lease (for example unauthorised subletting or short-term letting such as Airbnb),
this may impact the validity of the buildings insurance.
